It seems somehow wrong to be gone for such a long time and come back with nothing more to offer than a meme, but this one stood out to me, and I don't believe it's been done here before.
Tell me about the book that has been on your shelf the longest.
Taken literally, nearly all of my books have been on their current shelf for just about the same amount of time, but the book I've had the longest is an old copy of A Tale of Two Cities that my grandmother gave me when I was six.
Tell me about a book that reminds you of something specific in your life (i.e. a person, a place, a time, etc.)
When I was quite small, my mother used to read me Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. I always think of her when I see that book.
Tell me about the most recent addition to your shelves.
I recently picked up a copy of The Chosen by Chaim Potok, which is about two young Jewish boys growing up in Brooklyn in the 1940s. I haven't finished it yet, but it's a very interesting glimpse into a life I'm completely unfamiliar with, and it seems to have a lot to say about faith and friendship.
Tell me about a book that has been with you to the most places.
The RCMP Handbook, of course. I find it's been quite useful to me over the years.
Tell me about a bonus book that doesn't fit any of the above questions.
One of my very favorite books of all time is To Kill a Mockingbird. It's such a deceptively simple book with such a powerful message, and if you haven't ever read it, I highly recommend doing so.
I know I've missed quite a bit since I was last online as well, so please, fill me in. What's been going on in everyone's lives.
Ah, and Dean, I was sorry to hear about your condition, and I wish you a very speedy recovery.
